SDRT Field Day & Picnic

A group of SD Girls in STEAM members volunteered in in the annual Field Day and Picnic event organized by San Diego Refugee Tutoring. We enjoyed a nice summer day all the kids, playing games and eating pizza with them!
High School Experience Sharing Session
July 28, 2022
SD Girls in STEAM hosted an experience sharing session on July 28th, 2022. Iris, Eric, and Victoria shared their great and unique experiences with high school, applying to colleges, and managing clubs. Iris and Eric attended UC Berkeley in the fall, and Eric and Victoria are the former and current presidents of Girls in STEAM in the Bay Area.
Annual Julia Robinson Math Festival

SD Girls in STEAM club volunteered at the San Diego 2022 Annual Julia Robinson Math Festival for underprivileged kids on Thursday, August 18th in Solana Beach. August 18th is also the day when underserved families come to sign their students up for tutoring services during the coming school year. Our club members assisted the participants as they completed the math activities. This activity inspired kids with fun and interesting math games
Annual Back2School Bash

SD Girls in STEAM club members participated in the annual Back2School Bash hosted by San Diego Refugee Tutoring center on August 20th, 2022. From haircuts, to brand new shoes, to hygiene and school supplies, the refugee kids went to this wonderful event and left feeling confident, prepared, and strong to take on a new school year.
Phan Anderson Fundraiser

SD Girls in STEAM partnered with the Asian American Parent Alliance San Diego (AAPASD) to organize a fundraising event for Phan Anderson, a candidate for the School Board of Trustee for the San Dieguito Union High School District. There were 16 amazing performances performed by students from Ivymax, Xinjian Dance Studio, and Golden Dragon. In November, Phan Anderson was successfully elected.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Webinar

SD Girls in STEAM hosted a webinar about artificial intelligence, inviting an experienced Qualcomm engineering and former 12 Sigma Chief Technology Office to introduce the past, present, and future of AI.

Holiday Book Drive
October 20 - December 7, 2022
SD Girls in STEAM and CCA Tutoring in Progress hosted a holiday book drive for San Diego Refugee Tutoring center from October 20th to December 7th, 2022. Over 500 books were donated and brought to refugee kids for SDRT's Cocoa & Cookies event.
